El Salvador on Film
At the beginning of this year, I got to travel to El Salvador, to spend some time with dear dear friends who are family, and celebrate a wedding together. - as a guest!
While I wasn’t the official photographer, I still could NOT not take photos - but don’t worry, they did let their photographer know I would be taking some photos. (Cause that would just be RUDE without any proper notice and letting the official photographer know.) However, on this trip, I only took my film cameras. Don’t worry, I also made sure to just have fun and enjoy being a guest!
If this was an actual wedding I was hired to photograph - I obviously would have done a few things (okay, many) differently. It was such a lovely amazing time spent with family and making some new friends too… Congrats again Hilda & Devin.
Destinations:
Airport: SAL - El Salvador International Airport - from Oakland airport, it was about a 5ish hour flight. There is a 2 hour time difference. Volaris is the most affordable option, but American Airlines and Avianca also fly into SAL.
Weather: In January and till about early March, the weather is warm but not HOT or sweltering like I’ve experienced it in our summer months - in June, when I last visited.
First destination: El Tunco - Surf City (check out Wassi Surf if you want to take some lessons!)
Boca Olas Resort or Esymar beach house is where we’ve stayed. But there are many wonderful places to stay at - just do your research!
Second destination: San Salvador - Hilton San Salvador with a Pre-wedding party (this hotel includes complimentary breakfast with your stay - and it ain’t no skimpy continental breakfast either. It was always a wonderful spread! Think, omlette station, pupusa station, french toast, like the works.. breads, cereals, oatmeal, fresh juices - literally so many yummy options.)
Third destination: Volcán de San Salvador, El Salvador - Wedding venue: Cajamarca
