Venue Spotlight - The Terrace Room, Oakland
This is a very long overdue venue spotlight post about this great local venue with a wonderful staff to help you on your wedding day - The Terrace Room.
Every time I get to photograph here, it’s such a delight- especially working with Candi and the amazing staff at the Terrace Room. I’m lucky enough to be on their vendor list - which I don’t pay to be on at all and so it is a huge honor!
Why have your wedding at the Terrace room? Aside from Candi and the staff - if you are local to Oakland and love its proximity to the lake and have fond memories or attachments to Oakland, then this venue is for you. If you are a history buff and love great architecture, then this venue is for you - it an Oakland landmark, after all!
Originally built in 1927 and called the Lake Merritt Hotel and Terrace dining room with it’s breath taking panoramic lake views.
It also boasts a cute getting ready room and delicious catering menus. You can have both your ceremony and reception all in one location. There is ample space for your cocktail hour and a party and stage for your ceremony & reception. The staff does an amazing job of “flipping” the room to switch from ceremony to reception all while your guests enjoy their cocktail hour with passed apps, and maybe some live music and a photo booth if you like. The great thing about having a venue where you can do it all is customizing your schedule. One wedding I photographed there, they scheduled cocktail hour was BEFORE the ceremony - which I absolutely loved and doing so allowed for some great photos of the couple, then family group photos and plenty of candids with guests!
The Terrace Room event services include private access to the venue, ceremony set up, tables, Chiavari chairs, glassware, flatware, food, beverages, alcohol, staff, ivory tablecloths, and black or ivory napkins. You are also welcome to bring your own linens if you prefer. They set up, tear down, and manage everything that they provide!
