M & M | A creative and fun DIY wedding at the Sequoia Lodge
I met Michelle a few years ago and second shot a wedding with her at Triple S ranch, a gorgeous venue in Napa, and actually from that wedding became good friends with someone at that wedding, who happened to be the daughter of the groom - who has then has second shot for me on a few other weddings! Isn’t that so neat?! I LOVE how the world can be like that. Small, serendipitous, and feel like a great big hug sometimes.
Michelle is a talented fashion + brand photographer in Los Angeles now. You definitely should check her work out. I LOVE her compositions and her use of color. So, when she contacted me to photograph her wedding in Oakland - first, I was like - NO WAY!!?? ME?????? and then little butterflies bubbled up from my stomach and I got totally nervous. It is always such an honor to photograph another photographer’s wedding - but I’d be lying if it wasn’t also nerve wracking! Michelle & Michael, after spending just a few moments and seeing them together, you can really do see/feel how these two are just meant to be together. They both just light up each other - as well as the friends and family around them.
Another special thing about Michelle’s wedding is - one of her bridesmaids was someone I had been following for the longest time on insta and I finally got to meet her in person (and she is everything like her online person and then some…total girl crush for sure. I always admired Devon for her words and how she can craft such prose - it seemed so effortless yet carried such weight sometimes.)
Anyhoo…there were so many laughs…as well as tears. From the vows to the toasts..and everything in between. It was a lovely day spent in Oakland to cherish and to remember…Thank you Michelle & Michael.
